We're going to be watching the weather over the next couple of days. An upper-level disturbance rotating to the north will spark a few storms tonight. It's possible some of those storms - especially in the Tennessee Valley might produce some gusty wind and large hail. We will need to monitor Marion, Winston, Cullman, Blount, Etowah, and Cherokee Counties tonight. Temperatures will remain in the mid 60s throughout much of this evening.
We'll see some sunshine Thursday with temperatures soaring to near 80 in Tuscaloosa during the afternoon. Throughout most of the day - temperatures will be in the mid 70s. Thursday will be a mainly dry day. During the evening - a cold front will move across the region. Ahead of the front - we will likely see some strong and perhaps severe storms.
Severe Threat: The primary severe threat will be damaging winds and hail tomorrow night after 8pm. I believe areas west of I-65 and especially Northwest Alabama will have an enhanced small tornado risk. This is a very marginal type situation in my opinion. Instability will be the limiting fact. Storms should weakn tomorrow night as they track east of I-65. A few storms may linger through Friday morning with clearing skies during the afternoon. We will have a much better handle on the fine details concerning tomorrow once we get a few more model runs in the office.
The weekend looks cooler and drier. Expect morning lows in the mid 30s Saturday and Sunday.
